Repair Procedures: Removal

  1. Turn OFF ignition switch and disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
  2. Set shift lever to N position.
  3. Remove the air cleaner assembly. (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "AIR CLEANER ")
  4. Remove the battery and battery tray. (Refer to Engine Electrical System - "BATTERY ")
  5. Remove the engine control module (ECM). (Refer to Engine Control System - "ECM ")
  6. Disconnect the back up lamp switch connector (A) and the neutral position switch (B).

  7. Separate the control cable from the control shaft complete after removing the pin (A).

  8. Remove the control shaft complete (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb-ft)

    NOTE: Removal is possible only on "N" position.
