Timing Advance System
Ignition timing advance is controlled by ECU based upon sensor input signals which reflect ignition timing needs. If timing problems are experienced, inspect the following input signals for proper operation: To check these input signals, see ENGINE SENSORS & SWITCHES or ECU pin voltage charts in J - PIN VOLTAGES CHARTS article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section.
- A/C Clutch Signal - Signal received from automatic A/C amplifier.
- Airflow Meter.
- Battery Voltage.
- Crank Angle Sensor.
- Engine (Coolant) Temperature.
- Ignition (START) Switch.
- Park/Neutral (Inhibitor) Switch - Signal received from P/N relay.
- Power Steering Pressure Switch.
- Throttle Position Sensor.
- Throttle (Idle) Switch.
- Vehicle Speed Sensor.
