Fuel Pump

Remove fuel tank filler cap. Turn ignition on. Listen for fuel pump operating noise. If noise is not present, check fuel pump relay and wiring harness between relay and pump. On J30, check fuel pump control module. On Q45, check operation of fuel pump control unit. If fuel pump control unit is okay, disconnect fuel pump/sending unit connector at fuel tank and check resistance across fuel pump winding terminals. See FUEL PUMP TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION table. Ohmmeter should indicate .5 ohm. If resistance is not correct, replace fuel pump.
