Fuel Pump Control System

  1. Unplug fuel pump relay. See Fig 1 . Turn ignition on. Check for battery voltage between ground and fuel pump relay connector terminal No. 2 (Light Green wire) and terminal No. 3 (Red/Green wire).
  2. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, check wiring connectors, 7.5-amp fuse No. 30 in interior fuse box.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect fuel pump harness connector. Check continuity of Yellow/Black wire between fuel pump relay and fuel pump. Check continuity of Black/Red wire between fuel pump relay and ECM connector terminal No. 11.
  4. Repair wiring as necessary. If no faults are found in wiring, check fuel pump. If fuel pump is okay, test fuel pump relay. See RELAYS under RELAYS & SOLENOIDS. Also inspect ECM connector pin terminals for damage or corrosion.
