Detention Switch

  1. Disconnect shift lock solenoid harness connector, located below shift lever housing. See Figure . Check for continuity between terminals No. 5 and 6 on shift lock solenoid harness connector. Continuity should only exist with shift lever in Park position and shift lever button depressed or with shift lever in any position other than Park and shift lever button released.
  2. Check for continuity between terminals No. 5 and 7 on shift lock solenoid harness connector. Continuity should only exist with shift lever in Park position and shift lever button depressed or with shift lever in any position other than Park and shift lever button released.
