Generators & Regulators: Description

I30, QX4 and Q45 models use a Hitachi generator. G20 models use a Mitsubishi generator. All generators provide DC voltage to operate the vehicle's electrical system and to keep the battery charged. Voltage output is controlled by the Integrated Circuit (IC) voltage regulator. If the charge warning light illuminates with the engine running, a fault is indicated.
