DTC P0110: Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor: Procedure

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect IAT sensor harness connector. See Fig 1. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and IAT sensor harness connector terminal No. 2 (White/Purple wire). If voltage is about 5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not about 5 volts, repair open or short in White/Purple wire between ECM and IAT sensor. Retest system.
  2. Turn ignition off. Check continuity between engine ground and IAT sensor harness connector terminal No. 1 (Black wire). Also, check circuit for short to voltage. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Repair circuit as necessary and retest system. If ground circuit is okay, go to next step.
  3. Leave IAT sensor disconnected. Measure resistance between IAT sensor terminals, with sensor at specified temperatures. See IAT SENSOR RESISTANCE  table. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace IAT sensor and retest system.
  4. No problem is indicated at this time. Problem may be intermittent. See INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLE SHOOTING - NO CODES article.
IAT SENSOR RESISTANCE

Temperature - °F (°C) (1) Ohms
68 (20) 2100-2900
176 (80) 270-380
(1) Resistance should decrease as temperature increases. See Fig 2.
