DTC Confirmation Test

NOTE: If communication between ECM and scan tool is impossible, ECM may be operating in fail-safe mode. To confirm that ECM is faulty, verify ECM fail-safe mode conditions are present. See FAIL-SAFE MODES  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.

Malfunction is detected when ECM calculation function is malfunctioning. Only possible cause is a faulty ECM. To set DTC, turn ignition on. Select DATA MONITOR with scan tool. Start engine and let it idle for at least 2 seconds.
