Test K: Poor Acceleration
- Engine acceleration is poor while TCS is operating. Vehicle instability is caused by unstable engine rpm operation.
- Test drive vehicle. If acceleration is poor when TCS is active, cancel TCS by activating TCS OFF switch. Test acceleration. If acceleration is okay, go to next step. If acceleration is still poor or if automatic transaxle shifts when TCS is not operating, diagnose ABS/TCS system. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM . If any DTCs are present, use appropiate diagnostic test or procedure to correct problem. Retest system to confirm item was repaired. If no DTCs are present, go to next step.
- Using CONSULT-II, perform self-diagnostic procedures for TCM. If any self-diagnostic items appear on the screen, see DIAGNOSIS article in AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS. If no diagnostic items were present, go to step 5 .
- Using CONSULT-II, perform self-diagnostic procedures for ABS/TCS. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM . If any self-diagnostic items appear on the screen, repair as necessary and retest system to confirm problem was repaired. After all items in ABS/TCS system are repaired, go to next step.
- Using CONSULT-II, perform self-diagnostic procedures for ECM. If any self-diagnostic items appear on the screen, see COMPUTERIZED ENGINE CONTROLS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. Repair item as necessary and retest system to confirm problem was repaired. After all ECM items have been repaired, test is complete.
