Description & Operation: Notes
Power window system consists of power window regulators and Local Control Units (LCUs) located in each door. The LCU in the driver's door is also referred to as the MAIN SWITCH, and has controls for operation of all power windows, window lock function and automatic operation to open driver's window with one touch. All LCUs are considered slave units, and are commanded by the Body Control Module (BCM).
LCUs and BCM are connected via data line communications in a Local Area Network (LAN). All power windows can be operated using Nissan's CONSULT scan tool, or monitored in self-diagnostic Mode II without scan tool, to aid in diagnosis of power window operation failures. Ensure LCUs and BCM data line have open communication via the LAN. See LAN article.
Automatic operation function is for front windows only. System lowers or raises window when window switch is fully lifted or depressed and released. If something is caught in window as it moves upward automatically, window reverses direction and lowers about 6 inches. Encoder and limit switch are built into window regulator control interruption detection feature. Windows may be operated for up to 45 seconds after ignition is switched to OFF position.
