Diagnostic Procedure

INSPECTION START
Do you have CONSULT-II?

Yes or No
1. Yes: GO TO 2.
2. No: GO TO 3 .
CHECK OVERALL FUNCTION
With CONSULT-II
1. Turn ignition switch ON.
2. Check START SIGNAL in DATA MONITOR mode with CONSULT-II under the following conditions.

OK or NG
1. OK: INSPECTION END
2. NG: GO TO 4 .
CHECK OVERALL FUNCTION
Without CONSULT-II

Check voltage between ECM terminal 42 and ground under the following conditions.

OK or NG
1. OK: INSPECTION END
2. NG: GO TO 4.
CHECK STARTING SYSTEM
Turn ignition switch OFF, then turn it to START.

Does starter motor operate?

Yes or No
1. Yes: GO TO 5.
2. No: Refer to 2003-2004 .
CHECK FUSE
1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
2. Disconnect 10A fuse.
3. Check if 10A fuse is OK.
OK or NG
1. OK: GO TO 6.
2. NG: Replace 10A fuse.
CHECK START SIGNAL INPUT SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT
1. Disconnect ECM harness connector.
2. Disconnect ignition switch harness connector.
3. Check harness continuity between ECM terminal 42 and ignition switch terminal 6.
  Refer to Wiring Diagram.
  
  Continuity should exist.
4. Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
OK or NG
1. OK: GO TO 8 .
2. NG: GO TO 7.
DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
- Harness connectors F66, M229
- Fuse block (J/B) connectors M17, E83
- Harness for open or short between ignition switch and ECM
1. : Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
CHECK INTERMITTENT INCIDENT
Refer to TROUBLE DIAGNOSIS FOR INTERMITTENT INCIDENT .
