Diagnostic Procedure
- CHECK OVERALL FUNCTION-I
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Select "SNOW MODE SW" in "DATA MONITOR" mode with CONSULT-II.
- Check "SNOW MODE SW" indication under the following conditions.CONDITION INDICATION
CONDITION INDICATION Snow mode switch: ON ON Snow mode switch: OFF OFF
OK or NG
- OK: GO TO 2.
- NG: GO TO 3.
- CHECK OVERALL FUNCTION-II
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Check snow indicator in the snow mode switch under the following conditions.
CONDITION INDICATIONCONDITION INDICATOR Snow mode switch: ON Illuminated Snow mode switch: OFF Not illuminated OK or NG
- OK: INSPECTION END
- NG: GO TO 10.
- CHECK DTC
Check that DTC U1000 or U1001 is not displayed.
OK or NG
- OK: GO TO 4.
- NG: Perform trouble diagnoses for DTC U1000, U1001. Refer to "DTC U1000, U1001 CAN COMMUNICATION LINE ".
- CHECK SNOW MODE SWITCH CIRCUIT
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect combination meter harness connector.
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Check voltage between combination meter terminal 16 and ground under the following conditions with CONSULT-II or tester.
VOLTAGE REFERENCECONDITION VOLTAGE Snow mode switch: ON battery voltage (11 - 14V) Snow mode switch: OFF 0V Courtesy of NISSAN MOTOR CO., U.S.A.
OK or NG
- OK: GO TO 5.
- NG: GO TO 6.
- CHECK INTERMITTENT INCIDENT
Refer to "TROUBLE DIAGNOSIS FOR INTERMITTENT INCIDENT ".
OK or NG
- OK: Replace combination meter.
- NG: Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK SNOW MODE SWITCH POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect snow mode switch harness connector.
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Check voltage between snow mode switch terminal 1 and ground with CONSULT-II or tester.
Voltage: Battery voltage
OK or NG
- OK: GO TO 8.
- NG: GO TO 7.
- DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
- Harness connectors E105, M13
- IPDM E/R harness connector E8
- 10A fuse
- Harness for open or short between snow mode switch and fuse.
Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK SNOW MODE SWITCH INPUT SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Check harness continuity between snow mode switch terminal 4 and combination meter terminal 16.
Refer to WIRING DIAGRAM .
Continuity should exist.
- Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
OK or NG
- OK: GO TO 9.
- NG: Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK SNOW MODE SWITCH
Refer to "COMPONENT INSPECTION ".
OK or NG
- OK: GO TO 13.
- NG: Replace snow mode switch.
- CHECK GROUND CONNECTIONS
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Loosen and retighten two ground screws on the body. Refer to "GROUND INSPECTION ".
OK or NG
- OK: GO TO 12.
- NG: Repair or replace ground connections.
- CHECK SNOW INDICATOR GROUND CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT
- Disconnect snow mode switch harness connector.
- Check harness continuity between snow mode switch terminal 2 and ground.
Refer to WIRING DIAGRAM .
Continuity should exist.
- Also check harness for short to power.
OK or NG
- OK: GO TO 12.
- NG: Repair open circuit or short to power in harness or connectors.
- CHECK SNOW INDICATOR
Check continuity between snow mode switch terminals 2 and 4 under the following conditions.

OK or NG
- OK: GO TO 13.
- NG: Replace snow mode switch.
- CHECK INTERMITTENT INCIDENT
Refer to "TROUBLE DIAGNOSIS FOR INTERMITTENT INCIDENT ".
