Removal and Installation: Removal

  1. Remove engine under cover. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  2. Set the front wheels to straight-ahead position and fix steering wheel at center position.
  3. Disconnect EPS control unit harness connectors SYMBOL .

    CAUTION: Observe routing of EPS control unit harness.
  4. Remove heat insulator to aside. Refer to Exploded View .
  5. Remove EPS control unit mounting bolts SYMBOL .

  6. Remove EPS control unit SYMBOL and sealing ring from steering gear assembly SYMBOL .

    CAUTION:
    • Use lint-free rag to protect steering gear assembly and EPS control unit against dirt.
    • Soiling on the inside will result in destruction of the steering gear assembly or the EPS control unit.
  7. Remove sealing ring SYMBOL from EPS control unit SYMBOL .

  8. Remove damper coupling SYMBOL from EPS control unit SYMBOL .

  9. Perform inspection after removal. Refer to Inspection and Adjustment .
