Crank Angle Sensor

This sensor is located inside the distributor housing. The engine speed and relative position of each piston in its cylinder are detected. From these parameters, ECU calculates proper ignition timing and dwell angle. The ECU then sends a signal to the transistorized ignition coil, to create a spark.
