Trooper II

  1. Check for code 34. If code 34 is displayed, go to ECU CODE 34 test first. If code 34 is not displayed, go to next step.
  2. Warm up engine to normal operating temperature. If code 34 is now displayed, go to ECU CODE 34 test first. If code 34 is still not present, go to next step.
  3. With vehicle stopped, and engine operating at 1/4 to 1/2 throttle, check EGR valve for valve movement. If EGR valve movement is not observed, go to next step. If EGR valve movement is observed, inspect valve and passages for clogging, and clean or replace as necessary.
  4. Inspect EGR vacuum hose for defects or clogging. If vaccum hose is okay, go to next step. If vacuum hose is not okay, repair or replace vacuum hose, and return to step 3).
  5. Disconnect vacuum hose at throttle valve and apply vaccum with a vacuum pump to hose. If EGR valve operates, clean or replace throttle valve. If EGR valve does not operate, go to next step.
  6. Disconnect vacuum hose between thermo vacuum valve (TVV) and back-pressure transducer (BPT). Apply vacuum with a vacuum pump to BPT. If EGR now operates, replace TVV. If EGR still does not operate, disconnect vacuum hose bteween BPT and EGR valve. Apply vacuum directly to EGR valve. If EGR valve now operates, replace BPT. If EGR still does not operate, replace EGR valve.
