I-TEC Control System: Description
The I-TEC control system constantly monitors and controls engine operation. Various input sensors supply information to an Electronic Control Unit (ECU), and Turbocharger Control Unit (TCU) (if equipped). The ECU then controls the fuel delivery, ignition timing, fuel pressure, fuel evaporative purge, exhaust air injection and turbocharger (if equipped).
The ECU input sensors consists of the crank angle sensor, throttle position sensor (automatic transmission), throttle valve switch (manual transmission), vehicle speed sensor, coolant temperature sensor, airflow sensor, oxygen sensor and knock sensor on Impulse models.
