Ecu Code 63 - Vehicle Speed Sensor

  1. Disconnect harness at ECU. Connect an ohmmeter between harness connector pin No. 25 (No. 41 on Pickup and Trooper II) and ground. Disconnect speedometer drive cable at transmission. Ohmmeter should read continuity and open at rate of 4 signals per revolution of speedometer cable. If signal is proper, replace ECU.
  2. If signal is not proper, remove connector at VSS on back of speedometer. Connecting ohmmeter across connector pins. Repeat step 1). If signal is correct, repair harness. If signal is still improper, replace VSS. Clear code. Test drive vehicle. Access trouble codes to ensure fault is corrected.
