Mixture By-Pass Solenoid

  1. With ignition on and engine stopped, apply electrical load (headlights, rear defogger, etc.). Disconnect 12-pin carburetor connector. See Figure . Check voltage from carburetor harness connector terminal "C" to "B". If voltage is greater than 8 volts, go to step 2). If voltage is less than 8 volts, check battery. If okay, check harness to terminal "C".
  2. Connect carburetor connector terminal "C" to battery voltage and terminal "B" to ground. If solenoid does not click, check for open in carburetor harness or defective solenoid. If solenoid does click, solenoid and harness are okay.
