Injector Balance Test (I-Mark, 1.6L)

  1. Ensure fuel pressure is correct before performing injector balance test. Connect fuel pressure gauge to fuel system.
  2. Unplug harness connectors at all injectors. Install Injector Tester (J-34730-3) to one injector. Turn ignition on and bleed off air in fuel pressure gauge. Fuel pump should run about 2 seconds after ignition is turned on.
  3. Turn ignition off for 10 seconds. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Turn injector on by pressing button on injector testor. Note pressure drop the instant the gauge needle drops. Pressure may increase for a few seconds after initial pressure drop. Slight pressure increase should be ignored. Repeat for other injectors.
    CAUTION: To prevent flooding, entire test should not be repeated more than once.
  4. Injector pressure drop should be nearly same for all injectors. Replace any injector with more than a 1.45 psi (10 kPa) difference (plus or minus) than the other injectors).
