Coolant Temperature Sensor Test

  1. Unplug coolant temperature sensor. On Amigo, Pickup and Trooper (2.6L), sensor is located on right side of engine, below intake manifold. Sensor connector contains a Black and Green/Yellow wires.
  2. On Impulse, sensor is located on left side of engine, in coolant outlet. On Trooper (2.8L), sensor is located on front of intake manifold, near throttle body.
  3. On all models, check resistance between sensor terminals at specified temperature. See COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR SPECIFICATIONS table. Replace sensor if not within specification.
NOTE: Coolant temperature sensor malfunctions may also set trouble Codes 14 and 15. For additional testing information, see appropriate TESTS W/CODES article.
