ECM Relay

  1. ECM relay is located on right side of engine compartment in fuse/relay box. See Figure . ECM relay is powered by 10-amp fuse (No. 8) in interior fuse box. Remove relay from connector.
  2. Use an ohmmeter to check continuity between terminals No. 1 and 2, and terminals No. 1 and 3. Continuity should exist between terminals No. 1 and 2. Continuity should not exist between terminals No. 1 and 3. Apply 12 volts across ECM relay terminals No. 5 and 4. See Fig 1 .
  3. Check continuity between terminals No. 1 and 2, and terminals No. 1 and 3. Continuity should exist between terminals No. 1 and 3. Continuity should not exist between terminals No. 1 and 2. If ECM relay does not test as specified, replace ECM relay.
