Power Window Circuit

NOTE: Circuit testing is performed at driver-side power window switch.
  1. Remove driver-side switch from door trim panel. Disconnect power window switch harness connectors. Turn ignition on. Using a DVOM, check voltage between terminal No. 1 (Blue wire) of power window switch 2-terminal connector and ground. SeeFig 1 and Fig 2 . Battery voltage should be present.
  2. Turn ignition off. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between ground and terminal No. 2 (Black wire) of power window switch 2-terminal connector. Continuity should exist. Check continuity between terminals No. 1 and 2 of power window switch 10-terminal connector. Continuity should exist.
  3. At power window switch 10-terminal connector, check continuity between terminals No. 1 and 7. Continuity should exist with right front switch in DOWN position and should not exist with switch in UP position.
  4. At power window switch 10-terminal connector, check continuity between terminals No. 2 and 7. Continuity should not exist with right front switch in DOWN position and should exist with switch in UP position.
  5. At power window switch 10-terminal connector, check continuity between terminals No. 3 and 4. SeeFig 1 and Fig 2 . Continuity should exist. Check continuity between terminals No. 3 and 7. Continuity not should exist with left rear switch in DOWN position and should exist with switch in UP position.
  6. At power window switch 10-terminal connector, check continuity between terminals No. 4 and 7. Continuity should exist with left rear switch in DOWN position and should not exist with switch in UP position.
  7. At power window switch 10-terminal connector, check continuity between terminals No. 5 and 6. SeeFig 1 and Fig 2 . Continuity should exist. Check continuity between terminal No. 7 and ground. Continuity should not exist.
  8. At power window switch 10-terminal connector, check continuity between terminals No. 9 and 10. Continuity should exist. Check continuity between terminals No. 7 and 9. Continuity not should exist with right rear switch in DOWN position and should exist with switch in UP position.
  9. At power window switch 10-terminal connector, check continuity between terminals No. 7 and 10. Continuity should exist with right rear switch in DOWN position and should not exist with switch in UP position.
  10. If continuity or voltage is not as specified in any of the previous steps, repair appropriate circuit as necessary. If all circuits are okay, check, repair or replace components as necessary.
