Engine Controls - Tests W/Codes - 3.2L: Introduction

NOTE: Assembly Line Data Link (ALDL) connector may also be referred to as Data Link Connector (DLC). The CHECK ENGINE light, displayed in instrument cluster, is now referred as a Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL). Control Module (ECM) may also be referred to as Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

If no faults were found while performing BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES, proceed with self-diagnostics. If no fault codes or only pass codes are present after entering self-diagnostics, proceed to appropriate TESTS W/O CODES article for diagnosis by symptom (i.e. ROUGH IDLE, NO START, etc.).
