(1) Different interval is required for normal and severe service. Severe service is described as trailer towing, off-highway operation, snow removal operation, or operating in dusty or excessively hot conditions.
(2) Inspect air filter every 15,000 miles and replace as necessary. Replace at 30,000 miles unless previously replaced during inspection.
(3) There is no need to change fluid unless used under severe conditions.
(4) Inspect at scheduled interval and replace as necessary.
(5) Replace fluid at 15,000 miles. After first fluid change, replace fluid every 30,000 miles thereafter.
(6) Inspect water pump (where applicable).

(1) Hydraulic lash adjusters are used. No adjustment is required.
BELT ADJUSTMENT (DEFLECTION) (1)

Application (2) Belt Deflection
A/C Belt .315" (8 mm)
Generator & Power Steering Belt N/A
(1) Some models are checked by belt deflection; other models are checked using belt tension gauge.
(2) Deflection is checked with 22 lbs. (10 kg) pressure applied midway on longest belt run.
BELT ADJUSTMENT (TENSION) (1)

Application (2) Belt Tension
A/C Belt 100-140 lbs. (45-64 kg)
Alternator & Fan Belt 100-120 lbs. (45-54 kg)
P/S Belt 70-110 lbs. (32-50 kg)
(1) Some models are checked by belt deflection; other models are checked using belt tension gauge.
(2) Belt tension checked with belt tension gauge.
