Driver-Side Window Inoperative: Hombre

  1. Remove driver's door lock and side window switch. DO NOT  disconnect electrical connectors. Use test light and backprobe between ground and driver's power window and lock switch connector C1 terminal "L" (Dark Green wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Turn ignition switch to ON position. If test light comes on, go to step 7). If test light does not come on, go to next step.
  2. Repair open in Dark Green wire between BBEC and driver's door lock and side window switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  3. Use test light and backprobe between ground and driver's door lock and side window switch connector C2 terminal "A" (Dark Blue wire). Depress driver's side window switch to up and down positions. If test light comes on in either position, go to step 7). If test light does not come on in either position, go to next step.
  4. Disconnect driver's door lock and side window switch connector. Use DVOM to measure resistance between ground and driver's door lock and side window switch connector C2 terminal "A" (Dark Blue wire). If reading is greater than .4 ohm, go to step 6). If resistance is less than .4 ohm, go to next step.
  5. Repair short to ground in Dark Blue or Brown wire between switch and regulator motor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repairs, recheck system operation.
  6. Replace driver's door lock and side window switch. See POWER WINDOW SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After replacement, recheck system operation.
  7. With switch still connected, backprobe with test light between ground and driver's door lock and side window switch connector C2 terminal "E" (Brown wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Depress driver's side window switch to up and down positions. If test light comes on in either position, go to next step. If test light does not come on in either position, go to step 6).
  8. Use a self-powered test light and backprobe between ground and driver's door lock and side window switch connector C2 terminal "A" (Dark Blue wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, go to step 6).
  9. Use a self-powered test light and backprobe between ground and driver's door lock and side window switch connector C2 terminal "E" (Brown wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, go to step 6).
  10. Disconnect driver's door lock and side window switch connector. Use DVOM to measure resistance between driver's door lock and side window switch connector C2 terminals "A" (Dark Blue wire) and "E" (Brown wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If DVOM indicates an open circuit, go to next step. If DVOM does not indicate and open circuit, go to step 12).
  11. Repair open in Dark Blue or Brown wire between switch and regulator motor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If circuits are okay, replace power window motor. See POWER WINDOW MOTOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, recheck system operation.
