Engine Controls - System/Component Tests: Introduction
NOTE:
For circuit identification, see appropriate wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS
article.
NOTE:
Testing individual components does not isolate shorts or opens. Perform all voltage tests using a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) with minimum 10-megohm input impedance, unless stated otherwise in test procedure. Use ohmmeter to isolate wiring harness shorts or opens. Testing procedures not covered in this article require a scan tool. See appropriate TESTS W/CODES articles below:
- For 2.2L exept Hombre, see TESTS W/CODES - TESTS (2.2L) article.
- For 2.2L Hombre, see TESTS W/CODES - TESTS (2.2L) article.
- For 3.2L & 3.5L, see TESTS W/CODES - 3.2L & 3.5L article.
Before testing separate components or systems, perform procedures in BASIC TESTING article. Since many computer-controlled and monitored components set a diagnostic trouble code if they malfunction, also perform procedures in appropriate TESTS W/CODES articles below:
