Test C-2: Transmission Input Inspection
- Turn ignition OFF. Disconnect EHCU harness connector. Ensure transmission is in Park (A/T) or Neutral (M/T). Check for continuity between EHCU harness connector terminals No. 6 (Violet/White wire) and No. 15 (Black wire). If continuity is present, transmission switch or harness is shorted. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 6 . If continuity is not present, go to next step.
- If vehicle is equipped with automatic transmission, go to next step. If vehicle is equipped with manual transmission, go to step 4 .
- Turn ignition ON. Measure voltage between EHCU harness connector terminals No. 6 (Violet/White wire) and No. 15 (Black wire). If voltage is less than 6 volts with gearshift lever in "L" and "R" positions, leave DVOM connected and go to step 5 . If voltage is not as specified, check for faulty transmission switch or harness between transmission switch and EHCU. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 6 .
- Turn ignition ON. Measure voltage between EHCU harness connector terminals No. 6 (Violet/White wire) and No. 15 (Black wire). If voltage is greater than 9.6 volts with gearshift lever in 1st, 2nd or Reverse, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, check for faulty transmission switch or harness. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to step 6 .
- Measure voltage between EHCU harness connector terminals No. 6 (Violet/White wire) and No. 15 (Black wire). If voltage is 6.6-9.0 volts with gearshift lever in "P", "N", "D", 2" or "3" position (A/T), or in 3rd, 4th, 5th or Neutral (M/T), go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, check for faulty transmission switch or harness. Repair as necessary. After repairs, go to next step.
- Reconnect all components. Ensure all components are properly installed. Verify system operation.
