Rotor Assembly

  1. Measure diameter of slip rings. If slip ring diameter is less than 1.02" (26 mm), replace rotor. See OVERHAUL  . If slip ring diameter is within specification, go to next step.
  2. Using a DVOM, check rotor coil resistance between slip rings. If resistance is 3.75 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is not indicated, replace rotor. See OVERHAUL  .
  3. Using a DVOM, check continuity between slip ring and rotor core. If continuity is indicated, replace rotor. See OVERHAUL  . If continuity is not indicated, rotor is okay.
