Diagnostic Procedures
- Perform On-Board Diagnostic II (OBD-II) system check. See SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - INTRODUCTION article. After performing OBD system check, go to next step.
- Turn ignition on. With throttle closed, observe MAP value on scan tool. If MAP value indicates zero volts and 10.3 kPa (at sea level), go to step 4. If MAP value does not indicate zero volts and 10.3 kPa, go to next step.
- With ignition on and engine off, review and record FAILURE RECORDS data on scan tool. Operate vehicle within FAILURE RECORDS conditions specified. Monitor specified DTC information. If scan tool indicates DTC P0107 failed, go to next step. If scan tool does not indicate DTC P0107 failed, see DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect MAP sensor. Using a fused jumper wire, connect MAP sensor harness connector Red wire (5-volt reference) and Gray wire (input circuit) together. Turn ignition on. Observe MAP value displayed on scan tool. If reading is about 5 volts and 104 kPa, go to step 10. If reading is not as specified, go to next step.
- Remove jumper wire from MAP sensor harness connector Red wire (5-volt reference). Reconnect it at PCM Red 32-pin harness connector terminal A1 (Red wire). Observe MAP value displayed on scan tool. If reading is about 5 volts and 104 kPa, go to next step. If reading is not as specified, go to step 8.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM harness connectors. Check Red wire between PCM Red 32-pin harness connector terminal A1 and MAP sensor harness connector for an open circuit or short to ground. Repair as necessary. If no problem was found, go to next step.
- Inspect PCM harness connector terminals for damage or poor connection. Repair as necessary. If terminals are okay, go to step 11.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM harness connectors. Using a DVOM, check Gray wire between MAP sensor harness connector and White 32-pin PCM harness connector terminal F8 for an open circuit or short to ground. Repair as necessary. If no problem was found, go to next step.
- Inspect MAP sensor and PCM harness connectors for damaged terminals or poor terminal connection. Repair as necessary and retest system. If no problem was found, go to step 11.
- Replace MAP sensor and retest system.
- Replace and reprogram PCM using required equipment. See PROGRAMMING . Retest system.
