Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Control Test

Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve control test checks EGR valve and solenoid for proper operation.

1. Connect TECH 2 or equivalent scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located at lower left side of instrument panel, behind a small cover. Start engine, and go to next step.
2. On scan tool select F3: MISCELLANEOUS TESTS. From application menu select F5: EGR CONTROL, and go to next step.
3. Follow scan tool directions to test EGR valve.
4. If EGR valve tests as specified, testing is complete. If EGR valve fails test, test EGR valve. See EGR VALVESYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING article.
