Verifying Vehicle Repair

Verification of vehicle repair is more comprehensive for vehicles with OBD-II diagnostic systems. Following a repair, perform following steps:

1. Review and record Fail Records and/or Freeze Frame data for stored DTC.
2. Clear DTC(s). See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES .
3. Operate vehicle within Fail Records and/or Freeze Frame data.
4. Monitor DTC status information for DTC which has been diagnosed, until diagnostic test associated with DTC runs. After diagnostic test runs, and no new fault is recognized, testing is complete.

Following previous steps to verify repairs is very important on OBD-II equipped vehicles. Failure to follow steps could result in unnecessary repairs.
