MANUFACTURER: Jaguar
MODEL(S): Series III, XJ6
ISSUE & TIP
A loose neutral start switch may cause a no-start on 1984-87 Series III Jaguar XJ6 models. The switch is mounted externally on the driver's side of the transmission. A tiny bolt secures the switch to the transmission and holds it in proper adjustment. If the bolt gets loose or falls out, the engine won't start in Park or Neutral because the switch swivels out of position.
All that's necessary to repair the problem is to replace the missing switch screw. A little thread locker on the bolt threads will prevent a repeat performance.
