Base Idle (XJS)
- Ensure throttle cable is adjusted correctly and not holding throttle pulley assembly open. Throttle pulley should rest against the closed stop. Ensure throttle linkage is operating properly.
- Ensure throttle plates are clean and clearance between top of throttle plate and housing is .002" (.05 mm) with throttle plate in closed position. If clearance is not as specified, refer to THROTTLE PLATE ADJUSTMENT .
- With engine at normal operating temperature, A/C off and transmission in park, turn idle speed adjusting screw (located in auxiliary air valve) to obtain proper idle specification. Refer to the IDLE SPEED & CO LEVEL table.
