Camshaft Position Sensor: Installation

  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. If installing a new CMP sensor or original CMP sensor was not marked prior to removal, CMP sensor will need to be aligned. Go to next step.
  2. Verify that the imprinted circle in the metal wheel is centered in the CMP sensor window. See Fig 2 . If the imprinted circle is not visible in the CMP sensor window, engine may not be at TDC for No. 1 piston or CMP sensor may not be installed properly.
  3. Ensure engine is at TDC for No. 1 piston. If necessary, remove and reinstall CMP sensor so the imprinted circle is visible in the CMP sensor window. If the imprinted circle is visible but not centered, loosen the CMP sensor retaining bolt and rotate sensor until circle is centered. Tighten CMP sensor retaining bolt.
