Diagnostic Test Procedure

NOTE: This test involves use of a scan tool capable of reading fuel tank pressure.

Turn ignition off. Disconnect FTP sensor connector. Connect a test FTP sensor to the harness connector. Turn ignition on. Monitor fuel tank pressure. Close the sensor port with a finger and press lightly. Does pressure reading change? If yes, install a new fuel tank pressure sensor. Clear DTC and perform full EVAP system monitor drive cycle. See DRIVE CYCLES . If no, check the circuit between the FTP sensor and ECM. Repair as necessary. Clear DTC and perform a full EVAP system monitor drive cycle. See DRIVE CYCLES .
