Diagnostic Test Procedure
- Remove EMS relay. Measure voltage between ground and EMS relay connector terminals No. 2 and 3. Do both terminal have voltage greater than 10 volts? If yes, go to next step. If either terminal has less than 10 volts, repair the appropriate circuit between the relay connector and battery. This circuit includes the high power protection module.
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect ECM connector EM81. Measure resistance between the EMS relay connector terminal No. 1 and ECM harness connector EM81 terminal No. 3. Is resistance greater than 5 ohms? If yes, repair high resistance between the EMS relay connector terminal No. 1 and ECM harness connector EM81 terminal No. 3. If no, install a new EMS relay.
