KICKDOWN Switch
- Ensure that the throttle cable is correctly adjusted. See THROTTLE CABLE .
- Load the approved Portable Diagnostic Unit (PDU) with powertrain data logger and connect to vehicle.
- With EXISTING COMPONENTS TO BE TESTED - YES / NO displayed on the screen, select YES. Select ENTER and follow the messages given on the screen.
- Press ENTER on the PDU screen.
- Following the PDU instruction, push the throttle pedal until light contact is made with the kickdown switch and hold. Press ENTER on the display. Note the PERCENTAGE THROTTLE OPEN data (displayed as a bar graph). Release the throttle pedal.
- If the target of 90 percent throttle open specification is not achieved, the switch must be adjusted as follows:
- Pull the carpet from around the kickdown switch and disconnect the kickdown switch harness connector to avoid twisting the harness as the switch is rotated. See Fig 1 .
- Adjust the kickdown switch to 90 percent throttle open by rotating the switch in the required direction.
- Verify the setting.
- With the PDU instructions completed, connect the kickdown switch harness connector.
NOTE:
Ensure that contact with the kickdown switch does not result in switch movement.
