Throttle Cable

  1. Load the approved Portable Diagnostic Unit (PDU) with powertrain data logger and connect to vehicle.
  2. With DISABLE NETWORK INTEGRITY TEST - YES/ NO displayed on the screen, select YES.
  3. With new menu displayed on the screen, select ENGINE MANAGEMENT.
  4. Turn ignition ON and remove any previously selected data logger parameters.
  5. On data logger select PPS11 and PPS2 (Pedal demand sensors 1 and 2).
  6. On Sedan models only, remove the bulkhead covers on both sides and the engine compartment rear cover.
  7. Remove and discard the tie strap which retains the throttle cable to the throttle cable bracket.
  8. Ensure there is no tension on the throttle cable by releasing the throttle cable adjustment nut from the throttle cable bracket.
  9. Record the voltages for both sensors, PPS11 and PPS2.
  10. Partially insert the throttle cable adjustment nut into the throttle cable bracket.
  11. Recheck the voltages for both sensors, PPS11 and PPS2.
    • If the voltage reading are higher than the previously recorded, rotate the adjustment nut clockwise (as viewed from the front of the vehicle) until the voltage readings are the same as previously recorded. Continue to turn through a part revolution until the sides of the nut are vertical. Turn through a further 90 degrees, then fully insert the nut into the throttle cable bracket.
    • If the voltage readings are the same as previously recorded, rotate the adjustment nut counter-clockwise (as viewed from the front of the vehicle) until the indicated voltage starts to increase. Then rotate the nut clockwise through a part revolution until the sides are vertical. Turn through a further 90 degrees, then fully insert the nut into the throttle cable bracket.
  12. Fit a NEW tie strap to secure the throttle cable to the throttle cable bracket.
  13. Operate the throttle pedal through 20 full cycles to settle the cable. Ensure that the voltage readings are the same as the voltage readings taken in step 11.
  14. Check and if necessary, adjust the kickdown switch. See KICKDOWN SWITCH  .
  15. On Sedan models only, install the engine compartment rear cover and the bulkhead covers on both sides.
  16. Turn ignition OFF. Disconnect the approved PDU.
