Midtronics Testing

NOTE: Remove surface charge by allowing vehicle to set for 24 hours or by turning on head lamps for 5 minutes before performing Midtronics testing. Do not connect the tester to any other circuits or chassis points.
NOTE: Special tool required: Midtronics Battery Tester.

  1. Ensure battery terminals are clean. Connect the red lead to the positive post and black lead to the negative post. Rock the leads back and forth on the battery terminals to ensure a good connections.
  2. Using the arrow buttons on the tester, scroll to the batteries Cold Cranking Amperage (CCA) rating.
  3. Press the TEST button that corresponds to the correct battery temperature. If battery temperature is above 32°F (0°C) press the SUN button. If battery temperature is below 32°F (0°C) press the ICE CRYSTAL button.
  4. Perform service as necessary based of test results displayed on tester screen. See MIDTRONICS TEST RESULTS/SERVICE REQUIRED  table.

GOOD BATTERY Return To Service
GOOD - RE-CHARGE Fully Charge Battery & Return To Service
CHARGE & RE-TEST (1) Fully Charge Battery & Retest
REPLACE BATTERY Or BAD CELL BATTERY (2) Replace Battery
UNABLE TO TEST Disconnect Battery From Vehicle & Retest
(1) Remove surface charge before retesting. If test results are the same after removing the surface charge, replace battery.
(2) Ensure that surface charge was removed. Disconnect battery from the vehicle and retest. If test results are the same after removing the surface charge, replace battery. DO NOT charge.
