The starter is a Nippondenso pre-engaged type RA 1.4. Starter output is rated at 1.4 kW for a 30 second period of time. Rotation is clockwise, viewed from the pinion end. When the starter is operated from the key switch, the engagement lever moves the pinion into mesh with the engine ring gear teeth, the electrical contacts within the solenoid complete the high power circuit and the starter motor operates to turn the engine.
