Torque Converter
The torque converter:
- Acts as a fluid coupling between the engine and transmission geartrain.
- Provides multiplication of engine torque.
- Consists of an impeller, turbine and stator, housed within a converter cover.
- Has a lock-up clutch with variable slip control.
