SUNLOAD/Light Sensor
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2009 Jaguar XKR, 2009 Jaguar XK8, 2008 Jaguar XKR, 2008 Jaguar XK8, and 2007 Jaguar XKR. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The sunload/light sensor consists of 2 photoelectric cells that provide the automatic temperature control (ATC) module with inputs of light intensity; one as sensed coming from the left of the vehicle and one as sensed coming from the right. The inputs are a measure of the solar heating effect on vehicle occupants, and are used by the automatic temperature control (ATC) module to adjust blower speed, temperature and distribution to improve comfort.
NOTE:
The solar sensor is also used as part of the Autolamp feature and also contains the active anti-theft alarm indicator light emitting diode (LED). Refer to Exterior Lighting
and Anti-Theft - Active
article.
The sensor is installed in the center of the instrument panel upper surface and is powered by a 5 V feed from the instrument cluster.
