Ignition System - Solid State: Overhaul: Distributor: Disassembly
- Remove distributor cap and rotor. Use Gear Puller (J-28509), or 2 screwdrivers prying upward, to remove trigger wheel. Remove pin, pick-up coil retainer and washers from pivot pin on base plate. On V8 engines, remove pick-up coil snap ring from shaft.
- Remove retainer from vacuum unit-to-sensor drive pin and move vacuum lever aside. Remove ground screw from harness tab. Lift pick-up coil assembly from distributor housing. Remove vacuum unit only if it is to be replaced.
