Removal & Installation: Distributor: Removal
- Disconnect negative battery cable. On A/C equipped vehicles, remove electrical cooling fan and shroud assembly from radiator to allow room to turn engine vibration damper with socket and ratchet.
- Scribe an index mark on distributor housing, below left side of No. 1 spark plug wire post of distributor cap for reference. See Fig 1
. Remove distributor cap and turn engine crankshaft bolt in a clockwise direction until rotor is near scribed mark on distributor housing.
- Turn engine slowly until timing mark on crankshaft vibration damper aligns with zero (0) on front cover timing scale. Trailing edge of rotor blade should align with index mark scribed on distributor housing. Remove distributor hold-down bolt and clamp and remove distributor assembly from engine.
