Test 5A - Testing DRB-II
Although the manufacturer is the only one equipped to physically test the DRB-II for proper operation, you should be able to determine the state of your DRB-II by using the following substitution techniques and the process of elimination.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect DRB-II adapter cable and DRB-II cartridge. Locate a second vehicle with identical equipment to original vehicle. Connect DRB-II assembly to second vehicle and turn ignition switch to ON position. Use DRB-II as it was used on first vehicle. If DRB-II results are not the same as before, problem is not with the DRB-II. Return to test that sent you here.
- If same problem still exists as before substituting vehicles, DRB-II has a defective adapter cable or DRB-II cartridge. If a second DRB-II cartridge for the same vehicle is available, try substituting DRB-II cartridge. If DRB-II now functions correctly, original DRB-II cartridge is defective. Use the good DRB-II cartridge and return to test that sent you here.
- If DRB-II still does not function correctly, substitute a second DRB-II adapter cable. If a second DRB-II adapter cable of same type is not available, use a SCI or CCD adapter cable. If DRB-II now functions correctly, DRB-II has a defective adapter cable. Use the good adapter cable and return to test that sent you here.
- If DRB-II still does not work, substitute a second DRB-II. If a second DRB-II is not available, send DRB-II in for repair. If DRB-II now functions correctly, original DRB-II is defective. Use the good DRB-II and return to test that sent you here.
