Verification Test VER-2
If VERIFICATION TEST VER-3 was performed previously, perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-3 again. Inspect vehicle to ensure all engine components are connected. Reassemble and reconnect components as necessary. If another fault was read previously and not corrected, return to TEST DR-1A and follow path specified by other fault. If engine controller was replaced, perform the following steps:
1) Start vehicle at least 20 times to enable factory theft alarm system (if equipped). Write vehicle's EMR mileage into replacement engine controller. This will enable new engine controller to operate Emission Maintenance Reminder (EMR) light properly. Connect DRB-II to engine diagnostic connector and erase faults.
2) Start engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Raise engine speed to 2000 RPM for at least 10 seconds. Allow engine to idle. On A/T equipped models, apply brake and cycle transmission through all gear ranges. Place gear selector in Park position. On A/C equipped models, turn on A/C system. Set blower to low speed.
3) On all models, turn engine off. Start engine and allow it to idle for at least 2 minutes. Turn engine off. Using DRB-II, read fault messages. If repaired fault resets, repair is NOT complete. Check all pertinent TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS (TSBs), and return to TEST DR-1A if necessary. If another fault exists, return to TEST DR-1A and follow path specified by other fault. If no other faults exist, repair is now complete.
