Test 12D - Repairing Faulty Check Gauges Lamp
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
article in this section.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- If vehicle has coolant temperature, oil pressure or charging system problem, repair appropriate system. Perform TEST VER-1B . If vehicle does not have coolant temperature, oil pressure or charging system problem, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Oil Pressure Sensor (OPS) connector. Start engine. If CHECK GAUGES light goes out, turn ignition off. Reconnect OPS connector. Go to TEST 46A . If CHECK GAUGES light is still on, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of OPS sense circuit (Gray wire) at OPS connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace Body Control Module (BCM). Perform TEST VER-1B . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Gain access to Body Control Module (BCM). BCM is located behind center console. Disconnect BCM connectors. Check resistance of OPS sense circuit (Gray wire) at Natural BCM connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM. Perform TEST VER-1B . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect Mechanical Instrument Cluster (MIC) connector. Check resistance of OPS sense circuit (Gray wire) at Natural BCM connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace MIC. Perform TEST VER-1B . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Gray wire. Perform TEST VER-1B .
