Test 37B

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in this section.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Ensure left front seat belt is not fastened. Using DRB, read seat belt switch status. If DRB does not display SEAT BELT CLOSED, go to TEST 37D  . If DRB displays SEAT BELT CLOSED, go to next step.
  2. Fasten left front seat belt. If DRB does not display SEAT BELT OPEN, go to TEST 37E  . If DRB displays SEAT BELT OPEN, go to next step.
  3. Using DRB, actuate seat belt warning light test. If seat belt warning light flashes, system is operating properly. Perform TEST VER-1B  . If seat belt warning light does not flash, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Blue Body Control Module (BCM) connector. BCM is located behind center console. Check connector, and clean or repair connector as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1B  . If connector is okay, go to next step.
  5. Turn ignition on. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage on seat belt light driver circuit (Dark Blue/Red wire) at Blue BCM connector terminal No. 21. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace BCM. Perform TEST VER-1B  . If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to next step.
  6. Turn ignition off. Disconnect information center connector. Turn ignition on. Check voltage on fused ignition switch output circuit (Dark Blue/Yellow wire) at information center connector No. 9. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Dark Blue/Yellow wire. Perform TEST VER-1B  . If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
  7. Inspect seat belt warning light bulb and connector. If bulb is blown or connector is damaged, repair as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1B  . If bulb and connector are okay, repair open in Dark Blue/Red wire. Perform TEST VER-1B  .
