Engine Controls - Tests W/Codes - Body Control Computer: Description

The body control computer system, also referred to as the Body Control Module (BCM) system, consists of a combination of modules that communicate over the Chrysler Collision Detection (CCD) BUS system. Through the CCD BUS, information related to the operation of vehicle components and circuits is relayed to the appropriate system module(s). Each module receives the same component information. This reduces the complexity of vehicle wiring and size of wiring harness.

The following BCM systems are covered in this article: Electronic Instrument Cluster (EIC), electro/Mechanical Instrument Cluster (MIC), Compass/Mini-Trip Console (CMTC) module, power door locks, Remote Keyless Entry (RKE), side door memory lock, windshield wiper, illuminated entry, courtesy lights, key-in lamp system, headlamp time delay, liftgate release, seat belt warning lamp system and chimes. System failures within these systems can be diagnosed via the CCD BUS Data Link Connector (DLC) using Chrysler Diagnostic Readout Box (DRB) scan tool or generic scan tool.
