CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting any module connector.
NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  in this article. For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  section at the end of this article. Perform TEST VER-1B  after each repair.
NOTE: Radio must remain on during this test.
  1. Turn radio on. Disconnect Left Rear (LR) speaker connector. If sound is restored to L channel when LR speaker connector is disconnected, replace LR speaker. If sound is not restored to L channel when LR speaker is disconnected, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect Left Door (LD) speaker connector. If sound is restored to L channel when LD speaker is disconnected, replace LD speaker. If sound is not restored to L channel when LD speaker is disconnected, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect Instrument Panel (IP) speaker connector. If sound is restored to L channel when IP speaker is disconnected, replace IP speaker. If sound is not restored to L channel when IP speaker is disconnected, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off. Gain access to back of radio and disconnect radio Black connector. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of radio Black connector terminal No. 4 (Dark Green wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Green wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  5. Check resistance of radio Black connector terminal No. 2 (Brown/Yellow wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Brown/Yellow wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  6. Check resistance of radio Black connector terminal No. 6 (Brown/Light Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Brown/Light Blue wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  7. Disconnect radio Gray connector. Check resistance of radio Gray connector terminal No. 2 (Brown/Red wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Brown/Red wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace radio.
